Most people think about a product or service, they might think that is a software or hardware product that they make for. But for people who are starting new businesses, MVP(minimum viable product) is quite a cost-intensive element in what they are investing for. I think building community before serious product development might be a good MVP for test and validating their assumptions. This is a very cost-effective solution to test your idea before making a serious move.
Find the Right users before making the development
I have been thinking about why every design and technology doesn't become successful even though they have cutting-edge elements and shiny designs with it. But most failed. Because They just don’t find the right users. Users are a core element in every business. They search, purchase, and use our service or product that we make for them. This is why finding the right users and solving their problems is the key strategic element to building a better business.
Community as platform
I think every platform business has community-driven elements inside of it. For example, Airbnb is a community of room-sharing hosts. Every host builds community with others share their room and create a new culture for travelers. I think Airbnb creates not just a booking web site for travelers but creates a community for hosts and travelers. This makes huge differences in building and expanding their business as successful growth.
Community as wide-moat
community element will create personal bonding between users and members. This becomes a wide moat for the company. Therefore, other competitors who want to create the same business and products are hard to penetrate into the same market. Building a community around the service and product that we make, will be a core strategy to expand our business and sustain value-driven profitability for a company.
